Nature reserve lodge on the Olifants River in Hoedspruit
Lodge & Location
Paradise River Lodge sits inside the Ndlovumzi nature reserve, along the Olifants River. The property offers an outdoor swimming pool with a view, sun loungers, and a sun terrace surrounded by garden and picnic areas. Guests have access to an outdoor fireplace and can use the shared kitchen and BBQ facilities.
Accommodation
The lodge has family rooms and classic double rooms, each with a private bathroom and an ensuite outdoor shower. Rooms are furnished in a rustic hunting-lodge style, and there are no televisions in the rooms to encourage socialising. Daily housekeeping, ironing service, and laundry are provided.
Dining & Experiences
The hotel runs an honesty bar for drinks, and offers themed dinner nights, wine or champagne, and a kid-friendly buffet. Breakfast is served daily, and optional dinners include a traditional braai (BBQ) with boerewors, steak, and ostrich prepared by the host Max. The chef also makes chocolate brownies and mousse for dessert.
Activities & Wildlife
Certified ranger Max leads game drives in Kruger National Park and within the reserve, with a focus on birding-guests have spotted Pel's Fishing Owl, African Finfoot, and Half-collared Kingfisher. The lodge also offers walking tours, bike tours, and boat tours on the Blyde River Canyon. Guests can join a night drive to search for aardvark and other nocturnal animals.
Family & Practical Amenities
The property provides family rooms, board games and puzzles, and a kid-friendly buffet. Free private parking and accessible parking are available on site, and the hotel offers a paid airport shuttle from Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport (36 km away).
